chae - DD (Official Music Video)

‘DD,’ an abbreviation for ‘Dicked Down,’ is a sexually liberating female anthem celebrating the power of owning one’s inherent sexual feminine energy.

Indian-Portuguese artist, chae, challenges the conservative Asian stigma with attempting to break archaic and taboo ideologies around sex.

Growing up in the Middle East, chae was introduced to Motown by her parents and later on discovered the 90’s/2000’s R&B scene through the rebellious and well known file sharing software, Limewire.

Channeling inspiration from her Indian heritage, while also pulling from the African-Arab influence she was raised around — chae continues to elegantly craft her own lane by interlacing sharp lyrical verses over bounce-heavy throwback beats.

“I come from a conservative South Asian community and wanted to flip the script on sex, and the shame that surrounds it. So yes, I am a brown girl singing about sex and I love it.”
