Bangladesh Scouts with the Ministry of Education, Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is arranging the ''Scout Conference for Sustainable Development'' in partnership with the Ministry of Youth & Sports, Bangladesh and Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum ( ICYF) as one of the events of DHAKA OIC YOUTH CAPITAL 2020 along with grand celebration of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary.
Closing ceremony of this conference will take place virtually at 04:30 PM, GMT +6 on May 31, 2021.
The closing ceremony of the conference will be held through the Zoom app.
The theme of the conference is Scouting for Better Environment.
Hon'ble Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Dr. A. K Abul Momen, M.P. will be the Chief Guest at the Closing Ceremony of the Conference.
Mr. Ahmed Alhendawi, Secretary General, World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) will be present and deliver his remarks as the Special Guest.
Mr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, President, Bangladesh Scouts & Distinguished Fellow, Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), Special Envoy, Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF), Presidency and Commissioner, Commission on Biodiversity will preside over the closing ceremony.
There are 38 Countries participating in the Scout Conference for Sustainable Development Dhaka 2021. The participating countries are Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Brunei Darussalam, India; Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Yemen, South Africa, Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Malay, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Togo, Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Uzbekistan, Portugal, Brazil, Canada, Mexico. Each of these participating countries is a member of World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WOSM is divided into six regions: Africa, Arab, Asia Pacific, Eurasia, Europe & Inter-america. A specified number of youths from each of these regions will be connected to the conference.
100 Bangladeshi & 150 International, total 250 talent youth members from the OIC member countries along with some from non OIC Muslim states are participating.
The countries mentioned above are simultaneously members of OIC and WOSM.
There are several sessions on different subjects related to climate change in the conference scheduled. Education for Sustainable development and Scouts, Youth & Scouts in the Muslim World, Education for the Youth & Scouts, Climate Changes: Role of Youth & Scouts etc. are top topics to be discussed.
