Sustainable farming practices are at the epicentre of the modern-day fight against climate change. While we often link global warming with certain industries or political issues, it's important to recognize that unsustainable practices also occur at the grassroots level. Poverty-stricken farmers cutting trees, using excess pesticides, and even colouring their produce artificially are sad realities in the developing world. But what can be done about this situation? What can the government do about it? And how can you, as an individual, consume food in the greenest way possible? Ishaan Abburi is a ninth-grade student at The International School of Bangalore (TISB). Outside school, he is passionate about tennis, playing the piano, and chess. He auditioned for this TED talk as it combines many of his interests and strengths, including oration, public speaking, current affairs, and analytical skills. His topic, sustainable farming, was heavily influenced by his love for cooking and using fresh produce. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
