Paisa Vasool Movie Review,
Cast: Nandamuri Balakrishna, Shriya Saran, Musskan, Kyra Dutt.
Direction: Puri Jagannadh.
Genre: Action.
Duration: 2 hours 22 minutes.
Paisa Vasool Story: A self-proclaimed criminal Theda Singh (Nandamuri Balakrishna) who’s just been released from Tihar Jail is recruited by India’s premier intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) to infiltrate the gang of mafia don Bob Marley (Vikramjit Virk) and ultimately eliminate him.

Paisa Vasool Review: Bob Marley is wreaking havoc in the country with his atrocities. Realising that they would have to take him on in his own way, RAW recruits Theda Singh for the purpose. Meanwhile, Sarika (Musskan Sethi) files a complaint with authorities that her sister Sarika (Shriya Saran), a journalist who has been doing a sting operation on Bob Marley in Portugal goes missing. The RAW authorities are in for a shock when they realise that Theda Singh is not what he appears to be. Who is Theda Singh and what is his relation to the missing journo? Is he on the side of good or bad? Does he succeed in his mission is what Paisa Vasool is all about.

The film is an out-and-out Balakrishna show. Puri Jagannadh has gone in for a stylish gangster look of Balayya replete with one-liners intended specifically for the fans. While there is nothing especially remarkable about the songs, the background music by Anup Ruebens is in sync with the script. Shriya Saran as the main female lead gets a good role whereas Musskan Sethi is more of an addendum. Kyra Dutta is seen in the role of a cop masquerading as an item girl. We have seen such characterisations of late in films such as Nakshatram and Patel SIR.

Puri Jagan does a good job of showcasing Balayya with his witty one-liners and style. It reminds one of Amitabh Bachchan in Buddah. While there have been films of Balayya in the past where he has gone overboard with the action sequences, Puri does a good job of staying within limitations. However, the jarring moment in the film comes when there is a scene of the goons holding up a boy, the son of an encounter specialist and stabbing him. Puri might have inserted this scene to depict the ruthlessness of Bob Marley, nevertheless, it strikes a discordant note in what is otherwise an entertaining film. The first half is decent and does manage to hold your interest.

The second half disappoints slightly. Balakrishna has proved himself as an actor with brilliants portrayals of characters such as Krishnadeva Raya in Aditya 369 and Lord Rama in Sriramarajyam. But in Paisa Vasool, Puri appears not to have made any attempt to exploit this ability of the actor judging by the few emotional scenes in the film. Also, Kabir Bedi is kind of wasted in the film as RAW chief. An actor of his calibre deserves better. Puri Jagannadh has merely concentrated on making a commercial mass masala film and he succeeds at that. On the whole, Paisa Vasool is a racy entertainer that will appeal to audiences, especially to fans.
