With six days, passing through Pinhão, Alijó, Castro Daire, São Pedro do Sul, Vouzela and Viseu. Today was the day to consecrate the champions of this challenge that totaled almost 300 kilometers with 8000 meters of accumulated altimetry in all stages.
Portugal Brasil Ride aims to place itself as the biggest stage mountain bike event in Europe. The merger in 2021 between the Portugal MTB brand with the strength of the Brasil Ride brand, now known by the European media as the "Giro de Itália do MTB", adds to achieve this goal. In addition, Brasil Ride has the status of the best premium stage race in the world and a large customer base that currently has 40 customers throughout Brazil and 37 countries. The Brasil Ride brand, with twelve years in the market, and today organizer of 14 events per year, brings along with its portfolio the experience of organizing large-scale events.
In the Solo UCI Men category, there was a small change in the final results on the day, but it did not affect the final classification. Spaniard Enrique Morcillo (Buff Megamo Team) completed the last stage in 1h57min26s, followed by French teammate Hugo Drechou. Portuguese Filipe Francisco (DMT Racing Team By Marconi) made his first podium of the year and finished third. The leader of the category, Tiago Ferreira arrived in fourth place alongside Andreas Miltiadis, a result that guaranteed the title of champion of Portugal Brasil Ride for Tiago and the vice for the teammate. “It was a relatively quiet stage and only a big problem would take away the advantage I had over our opponents, it was more control of the race and celebrate at the end”, said Tiago Ferreira.
Among the women in the Solo UCI Women category, Estonian Greete Steinburg (MTB Pro Merchandising Racing) won the stage again with more than six minutes of difference to the second, this time the Portuguese Ana Tomas (BTT Seia). Closing the podium of the stage Naima Madlen (Buff Megamo Team) almost 10 minutes from the champion. The results in the accumulated time did not change and Steinburg was the champion with 52 minutes of the vice.
In the mixed category, the Portuguese duo, Jose Silva and Celina Carpinteiro (Portugal Brasil Ride) won. Brazilians Andre Lima and Fabiana Brandão (4Fun Bike Center) were second overall and the Norwegian duo Sigmund Aas and Thrude Natholmen (If Frøy/ CK Victoria) closed the podium. “To close all these days of competition, we came together with the Brazilians and also friends to the finish line, Brasil Ride allows you to always make friends”, said Celina Carpinteiro.
Portugal Brasil Ride arrived to encourage and boost local commerce and, above all, tourism in the region and in the country, bringing athletes and their families from all over the world. “Throughout all the cities where the race passed: Castro Daire, São Pedro do Sul, Vouzela, Viseu, Alijó and Pinhão, we had an incredible reception in addition to the exceptional trails in the central region of the country”, said Mario Roma. "In addition to being Portuguese, what brought us to Portugal was the fact that the country is the gateway to Europe and for exploring cultural and gastronomic aspects like no one else, as well as the climate, which is unique on the continent", evaluated Mario Roma , founder of Brasil Ride.
