Welcome to Royal cam - streaming live from our northern royal albatross colony at Taiaroa Head near Dunedin. A young albatross pair are in the process of constructing their nest, with their egg expected in mid to late-November. Look out for their colour bands - the male bird has blue-black (BK) colour bands and the female has red-blue-black (RBK).

Northern royal albatross or toroa, have been nesting at Pukekura/Taiaroa Head since 1938, and the colony is now over 100 individual birds. They are one of the largest seabirds, with a wingspan of three metres!
