Join us July 1 at 6 p.m. CST to perform an experiment to learn about chemical reactions! We will learn about what a hypothesis is, make one, and learn about the different chemicals involved in our experiment. Let's continue earning our Valero STEM Initiative Patch ????
¡Atrévete a experimentar cómo volar un globo con una reacción química! ¡Verás que tú también podrás hacerlo! ¡Para actividades más divertidas como esta, únete a las Girl Scouts hoy!
Are you having fun in our meetings? If you are, you're invited to join Girl Scouts! For $25 a year, you'll join a group of girls who will learn together, laugh together, and make the world a better place ????https://www.girlscouts-swtx.org/en/about-girl-scouts/join.html
✏️Supplies
¼ cup vinegar
A small plastic bottle with a neck
2 tablespoons of baking soda
A small balloon
???? Activity
Pour the vinegar into the plastic bottle.
Stretch open the balloon mouth and carefully pour the baking soda into the balloon.
Place the balloon mouth over the bottle with the balloon to the side so that the baking soda does not fall into the bottle.
Make sure that the balloon mouth is tightly secure around the neck of the soda bottle.
Shake the balloon so that the baking soda falls into the balloon. What happens? Can you figure out why?
Questions
1. What are other chemical reactions that you know?
2. Can you name a couple of acids? Bases?
3. What was your hypothesis that you made before the experiment?
???? Patch Info.
This is one of 4 videos to earn your Valero STEM Initiative Patch. You can check out this activity in our patch booklet: https://www.girlscouts-swtx.org/content/dam/girlscouts-girlscouts-swtx/2020-documents/council-patch-programs/valero/2019-20VALERO%20Booklet%20JUNIOR.pdf
