My top 17 entries of Portugal in Eurovision Song Contest (2001-2020).

Portugal is the underdog of this competition. And to be honest often they deserve their positions. But sometimes they’ve been really underrated! But they should be proud of themselves, cause they don’t give a f*ck what others say. They always sing in Portuguese and aren’t afraid to experiment with different genres.

17. Really horrible. Luckily it’s supposed to be bad. But what’s funny? If you want to do a joke entry with actual sarcastic lyrics in ESC (and not like Ukraine 2007 i.e.) you have to sing in English! Maybe it’s hilarious in portuguese, but the portuguese can’t vote for themselves.

16. This isn’t a WTF-moment like ”what the f*ck is going on?”, it’s more like ”WTF were they thinking”. Funny dresses are funny when they aren’t supposed to be (like Moje 3)) or when they just are so over the top (like Verka Serduchka). This is just silly! My main concern is that the refrain sounds pre-recorded. Not that it’s so flawless that it has to be autotune, more like their energy is so off when they sing together, but when they sing solo they’re just trying to overshining each other… and then some cringe lines between like ”come on girls!”

15. I’m sorry, I’ve tried to like this for years, but I’ve always found it really boring. Nothing else to say.

14. An okay mediocre song. Could see it end up last in a Junior Eurovision ten years ago. One of the better songs that year, but says more about the year than the song.

13. I’m sorry again, but this is really painful to watch. If I just listen to the studio version, I might enjoy it in half a minute, but then it gets boring.

12. Yes they deserved another chance to perform. It wasn’t their fault that the audio was off. But you cannot blame the organizers for the messy performance and the awful outfits. And it isn’t like the song was a masterpiece.

11. I don’t know what to say. There is something I like. If it was adapted to the music production of today, it would maybe be really good.

10. I don’t know if it’s fun and cheerful or silly and dumb. It’s hard for me to like very high-pitched notes in happy songs.

09. I love her voice. I love the staging. But I find this song too cheesy. I don’t like entries that try to be a lullaby sang by a princess in a fairytale.

08. Well… I’m speechless. It’s really hard to say anything about this. It has to be the weirdest song ever to compete in ESC. I just have to love it, but then those weird noises ruin it for me.

05. This is so trash. Weak vocals and cheap song. But it’s so fun. A huge party in the arena. Should’ve been in the final.

04. I’m probably alone but I love this. Great singer and performance. This is how you do a revamp! It transformed from a dull ballade to a dark and interesting pop song.

03. One of the biggest growers ever for me. I just couldn’t understand how this was so high in the odds. When he won I said ”okay another last place for Portugal”... well yeah… However when I saw the live performance, I understood the charm of it. But I’m still not completely there yet.

02. This is the sweetest entry ever! I’m in love with her. This is genuine music. Even if the band played the wrong tune they kept on smiling, dancing & singing along even if they don’t have mics. Just pure joy! I love it.

01. A boring over-dramatic song with a flawless performance. She slayed and should’ve ended up in the top 10 at least!
