Transcription of the Narration: Hello everyone, My name is Hitesh Bhatt and you are watching Project Go Native.
So, let's talk about 5 common misconceptions that people have about Romania and the Romanian people.

No.1

Land of Gypsies: Guys, Romania is not a land of gypsies. There are gypsies in Romania like there are gypsies in any other country. France, Italy, Spain, USA, England, Portugal, Poland, Holland, Sweden, Norway..Guys, gypsies are everywhere and there are different kinds of gypsies all over the world.
They came from India most probably in the 6th or 7th century and they moved to the Balkans about 12th century and from Balkans they spread all over the world. But, guys, all the Romanians are not gypsies. Come on.
The official Romanian data says there are only 3.08% of gypsies living in Romania out of the whole population and the unofficial data which I took from this book called 'I Met Lucky People' it is an academic writing by 'Yaron Matras' and he is an amazing..he is an amazing writer I have been thoroughly enjoying this book. I have been doing a lot of work to say these things not just watching a YouTube video and coming out of it.

Dracula: Dracula is the name of a novel written by 'Bran Stoker' who was from Ireland. He never visited Eastern Europe. He never came to Transylvania. The whole novel was his imagination about Dracula, the Vampire. It had nothing to do with Romania but the description kind of looked like it is in Romania, like a Draucla castle and a lot of tourists started coming, pouring into Romania to find the Dracula and started asking Romanians, "hey, where is the Dracula castle?" and the Romanians were like, "whattt? Dracula? What is that?"
So, yeah, then they started learning about Dracula and they realized that. "oh, we can use it, we can use it to promote tourism" and the tourism has gone from here to there just because of Dracula. But, Dracula is also..there was a prince called 'Vlad, the Impaler', Impaler because he used to impale people. If you don't know what impaling is, google it, you will be horrified to know what impaling is but he is still a national hero because he was doing it to defend his country. But, imagine, this national hero has been portrayed as a villain, as a vampire, as a Dracula, which can be offensive at times if you meet a Romanian and tell him or her. "Hey, you are from the land of Dracula". there are not vampires roaming around on the streets. People are really beautiful here, especially the girls.

No. 3

Romanians speak Russian. Yeah, they speak it very well. Guys, that is bullshit. Romanian has nothing to do with Russian. They do not speak Russian. They had a very bad history with Russia so if you go and tell someone, "aah, you speak Russian" it's going to be quite offensive. Now, let me tell you something very personal. When I met my wife for the first time and I told her, "oh, you speak Russian."
I have been there. Stupid person. So, I am educating you today not to be the guy you can be. Romanian is a romance language. It's a language spoken by 24-25 million people especially in Romania, Moldova, and some parts of Ukraine. And Romanians have also spread all across Europe for better jobs, for better future. It is a widely spoken romance language. It has a lot of influence from Italian, Spanish, Portugese, aaand..wait a minute....French. How could I miss that. I made the notes, don't worry. So, it's a romance language, it's Romanian, it's not Russian, it doesn't even sound like Russian. Most of the people don't even know how to speak Russian. So yeah, don't say that again.

No.4

Have you heard of Transylvania? Guys, Transylvania, yeah. this is the place where the imaginary Dracula castle is but a lot of people think..I don't know..I have come across such people, I don't know if you have come across that. But a lot of people think Transylvania only exists in stories and it's not real but Transylvania is real. It is the central part of Romania and it is the most beautiful region of the whole country. And it does exist.

Last but not the least. No. 5

Budapest!, wooo hooo. Guys, do not be Michael Jackson. You know what Michael Jackson did? When in 1992 he came to Bucharest, Bucharest, Bucharest, Bucharest, the capital of Romania, Bucharest. So when he came to Bucharest, he went to the Parliament house and from the balcony he screamed like, "Hello, Budapest. I mean Bucharest". Don't be that guy. Budapest is the capital of Hungary. It is not even in Romania dude. A lot of people book their tickets to go to Bucharest but landed in Budapest. A lot of stupid things have happened with that and it's really funny but it can cost you money so guys..Bucharest..not Budapest.

So, these are the five common misconceptions about Romania and the Romanian people. Guys, I am a traveler, trying to vlog. If you like what I said, Like, Subscribe, Comment and enjoy.
